ShipRocked 2027 Sets Sail From Miami With Samurai Spirit After Record Breaking 2026 Voyage
Written by Daphne Martinez

If January is supposed to be a slow month for live music, ShipRocked clearly disagrees.
After wrapping its largest sailing to date, the floating rock festival has officially announced its return. ShipRocked 2027 will set sail January 24 through 30 aboard Carnival Horizon, departing from Miami and heading to Mahogany Bay in Roatan, Honduras, marking a first-time visit for the cruise, as well as Cozumel, Mexico. The 2027 theme, ShipRocked Samurai, promises a sharper visual identity layered over the same high-volume, high-energy experience fans have come to expect.
ShipRocked just closed out its sold-out 16th year with more than 4,100 guests onboard from January 25 to 31, 2026, making it the largest sailing in the event’s history. What unfolded over those six days was less a typical cruise vacation and more a fully immersive rock community at sea.

The 2026 lineup featured more than 30 bands across multiple stages, led by powerhouse performances from Halestorm, Motionless In White, and Knocked Loose. They were joined by Wage War, AWOLNATION, Suicidal Tendencies, Avatar, Starset, Sleep Theory, From Ashes To New, Kittie, and a deep roster of emerging and established acts that kept every corner of the ship active from afternoon through early morning.
One of the defining traditions of ShipRocked remains The Stowaways, the cruise’s all-star band featuring rotating members of I Prevail, Hollywood Undead, Ice Nine Kills, P.O.D., Atreyu, and more. Their midweek deck stage set embodied the cruise’s “Rock Hard, Vacation Harder” mantra, moving seamlessly between generations of rock staples and turning three decks of Carnival Horizon into a single, unified singalong.
The 2026 sailing delivered moments that felt genuinely exclusive to the ship. Halestorm hosted a meet and greet and delivered a special “ShipDocked” performance while docked in Nassau. Motionless In White performed their version of Rammstein’s “Du Hast” for the first time since 2018, giving longtime fans a rare throwback moment. Wage War surprised guests with an intimate acoustic set in the Atrium lounge on the final night of the trip.
Aaron Bruno treated fans to multiple performances with AWOLNATION, including a crowd-wide singalong of “Sail,” and appeared with The Barbarians Of California. Suicidal Tendencies turned a Tuesday afternoon deck set into an extension of the Half Moon Cay beach party energy. Avatar leaned fully into the cruise setting, emerging in bathrobes with rum punches in hand for their sailaway set as the ship departed Miami. Starset debuted their new song “We Are Empire” live, performing in their signature space suits. Sleep Theory added an unplugged performance for loyal returning ShipRockers during the cruise’s loyalty event.

Even late-night DJ sets blurred into performance territory, as members of Hollywood Undead occasionally grabbed microphones and turned the Atrium into an impromptu concert.
Beyond the music, ShipRocked continues to stand out for its immersive activities. Guests rotated between blackjack and dodgeball tournaments, live band karaoke, trivia contests, singles mixers, heavy metal morning yoga, and the ever-popular Beach Wars. There was an onboard tattoo parlor, artist-hosted events, and a guitar clinic led by Marcos Curiel of P.O.D., reinforcing the cruise’s blend of vacation and fan access.
One of the most meaningful highlights of the 2026 voyage came during the annual ShipRocked Cancer Sucks! onboard charity auction, which raised a record-breaking $200,000. That brings the cruise’s total fundraising efforts to more than $1.2 million to date, supporting innovative medical research in the fight against cancer. The balance of celebration and purpose remains a defining part of the ShipRocked identity.
Looking ahead to 2027, anticipation is already building. Returning guests have pre-registered for the upcoming sailing, and public pre-sale information will be available soon through the official ShipRocked website. A first-time stop in Roatan, the return to Cozumel, and the new ShipRocked Samurai theme signal that the cruise continues to evolve while preserving the core community that fills its decks year after year.
ShipRocked has long positioned itself as more than a festival on a boat. It functions as a winter reunion for fans and artists who share a passion for live music, collaboration, and connection. In January 2027, that floating ecosystem sets sail once again.
